When you buy our coffee, you are probably already enjoying the beautiful latte art that your barista lovingly crafts atop your drink. Our baristas are passionate about their craft, and earlier this year we hosted our annual Coffee#1 Latte Art Competition at the Academy.
Coffee#1 baristas across the country initially submitted photos of their best latte art efforts. Our Academy Coffee Trainer Liina Nutman then had the unenviable task of picking a shortlist of 12 finalists from all the high-quality entries. These finalists were next tasked with creating two free-poured, identical drinks in front of a panel of industry experts and international judges.
Our finalists rose to the challenge, and after a fierce day’s competition the judges awarded joint-first place to Briony from Coffee#1 Monmouth, and Anka from Coffee#1 Bridgewater, with Lucy Haines from Coffee#1 in Penarth in third.
Liina Nutman commented: “Wow! What a competition. The standard was incredibly high and showed the calibre of staff we have working in our Coffee#1 stores. All of the finalists did a great job, and it was amazing to see the passion people have for coffee and their work. Well done everyone!
